Chapter 4

I didn't wait for Jack to explain and drove out of the house.

Jack didn't come after me either.

Before leaving, I took Jack's hidden red wine and brought it to the riverside, drinking myself into a stupor.

Unexpectedly, I ran into Ryan, Jack's business rival.

Because of Jack, he recognized me at a glance.

"What's this? Has that gentleman from a wealthy family, Jack, neglected you? You're out here drinking alone on your birthday?"

Drunk as I was, I looked at this man who was slightly more handsome than Jack and asked confusedly, "Ryan, how did you know today is my birthday?"

He didn't answer my question, instead snatching the wine bottle from my hand.

"Stop drinking, it's bad for your stomach. Let me take you home."

I brushed off his hand, my tone cold.

"I'm not going back. That jerk Jack adopted his nephew without even telling me. I've been trying to get pregnant for three years, who wants his sister-in-law's kid?"

Seeing my intoxicated state, Ryan didn't say another word and carried me to his car.

Ten minutes later, Ryan brought me back home.

Ryan carried me towards my front door.

I complained, "Why did you bring me back here? I don't want to go in."

The next second, Jack appeared with a dark face, looking at me in Ryan's arms.

"Evelyn, you've really outdone yourself. I say a few words to you, and you run into someone else's arms? Do you still consider me your husband?"

I got down from Ryan's arms, drunkenly snorting, "If you really cared about me, would you adopt someone else's child without discussing it with me, and even let them live in our house?"

Jack glanced warily at Ryan, then quickly pulled me back into the house.

"Evelyn, it's not what you think between me and Chloe. She'll move out in a couple of days, just bear with it for now."

After explaining, Jack took me upstairs to rest.

I watched his retreating figure, irritably went downstairs for water, and secretly saw Jack and Chloe embracing each other.

My breath caught in my throat.
