Chapter 3

Jack and I had an arranged marriage between wealthy families.

Originally, I started trying for a baby right after the wedding to secure my future.

But over the three years of marriage, our feelings for each other grew rapidly.

Before today, I really wanted to have a child with him.

But now Jack said coldly, "My brother has left all his business for me to inherit. I have an obligation to help raise his child. Don't overthink it."

I raised an eyebrow and said bitterly, "I'm not overthinking, it's Chloe who..."

Jack interrupted me, "Enough, I'll explain this to you later."

Just as I was about to ask how we were going to celebrate my birthday, Tommy threw a piece of cake at my head and cried to Jack.

"Dad, this bad woman was bullying mom earlier. Quick, kick her out!"

Jack immediately looked at me with cold eyes, as if I had really done such a thing.

I wiped the cake off my head and defiantly denied it, "I didn't do anything like that. Tommy is lying."

Chloe wiped away non-existent tears and complained, "Jack, Evelyn is jealous that I have such an excellent son. She called my son a bastard. I just argued with her a bit, but I didn't expect her to call me a shameless slut. I really didn't mean anything by it. I just wanted my son to be treated well. Is that wrong?"

I laughed coldly, "I never said that. Chloe, why are you throwing dirt on me?"

Jack shouted, "Enough! Evelyn, apologize to Chloe for this. Tommy is just a child, he wouldn't lie, would he?"

Looking at the biased Jack, my eyes filled with tears as I asked him, "Jack, why don't you believe me?"
