Chapter 5

Jack sat on the sofa, with Chloe lying in his arms, all lovey-dovey.

"Jack, don't you think it's fate that we're together?"

Jack held her gently, as if Chloe was his wife.

"Behave yourself, Evelyn isn't asleep yet."

Chloe said with a giggle, "If it weren't for your brother being sterile, we wouldn't have our Tommy. Evelyn hasn't given you a child in three years, why don't you divorce her and marry me?"

Jack frowned and said, "No, my marriage to her was arranged for business reasons. We can't divorce easily."

"You heartless man, if it weren't for my advice back then, could you have married into the Lin family?"

Faced with Chloe's complaints, Jack kissed her and said, "Wait until Evelyn is asleep, and I'll make it up to you properly."

Hearing their conversation, I could no longer hold back my tears.

That "gentleman" image is all bullshit. It's all lies.

But for the sake of our families' alliance and interests, I didn't want to directly confront them.

Having discovered Jack's secret, my attitude towards him cooled considerably.

Three days later, Chloe and her son still hadn't left.

That night, I coldly asked Jack.

"Didn't you say they would leave after a few days?"

Jack frowned and made excuses, "Chloe has been sick these past couple of days. How can you treat a sick person like this? Chloe is our sister-in-law, what's wrong with her staying for a few days?"

I looked at him angrily, "If she doesn't leave, I will."

I packed some personal items and was about to leave with my suitcase.

Chloe walked into the living room wearing a semi-transparent silk nightgown, looking at me with a victorious and mocking expression.

"What's this? Has Jack kicked you out? Having to leave in the middle of the night?"
