Chapter 4
The pack burst into jeers.
Jax swallowed hard, his eyes raking over my body.
"You said it."
Ignoring them, I walked to the starting line, expressionless.
I scanned the hunting grounds ahead.
Steep cliffs and raging streams cut through the forest.
Some ravines were known as death traps, impossible to cross.
"You've got to be kidding. Does she actually think she can beat Jax? He's the fastest warrior in our pack!"
"If she wins, I'll eat my trophy necklace."
The pack raised the stakes and started placing bets.
"Kyle, I'll add a rare moonstone on top of the right to claim her."
"I'll bet my largest hunting grounds on the western territory."
"And I'll throw in two grizzly pelts."
When the bets were in, Jax looked at me with contempt.
"Selene, I won't hold back."
I narrowed my eyes and smirked.
"Oh? Let's see."
