Chapter 3
I watched them exchange looks, and my heart went cold.
I cut in.
"Save your breath, Clara. I'm running solo."
The other females sided with Clara and mocked me.
"She offers you help and you spit on it. How pathetic."
"Maybe she's just an exhibitionist. Maybe she wants the strongest guys in the pack to see her stripped bare."
Kyle frowned and snorted.
"This isn't a game. The terrain is rough and full of traps. You could get killed. Clara is trying to help. Why are you being such a stubborn brat?"
I lifted my chin and stared straight into his eyes.
"Kyle, if you were competing, would you win?"
He froze. Doubt flashed in his eyes.
Then he turned impatient.
"My chances are better than yours. Since you don't trust me, I have nothing more to say. Don't blame me if you lose."
Kyle's Beta let out a low, challenging growl.
He eyed me like prey he had already cornered.
"Every bet needs a stake. So tell me, Selene—if I win, what exactly do you have to offer besides your body?"
Jax, a powerful Beta, sneered.
I let out a dry laugh.
My voice was eerily calm.
"Claim me however you want. Any position, anywhere."
