True Health Report

My Wife Went on a Three-Year Business Trip and Came Home With a Child

Chapter 3

3,853 words

I sneered and said nothing, just watched him leave, then turned to Ryan’s office.

This bastard was clearly setting me up to take the fall.

I immediately headed for his office, but the HR manager stopped me.

“Hold on. Mr. Grant is in a video meeting. You can’t go in.”

I looked at him. “I just beat Ben and walked away clean. So tell me, if I beat you up right now, will Ryan fix you or fire me?”

The HR manager froze at once.

He didn’t dare stop me, and I was about to go in when Ryan came out.

Seeing me standing at the door, he looked a little unhappy. “What do you need?”

“Mr. Grant, you sure do have a bad memory. Didn’t you say you’d give me an explanation?”

“Or are you planning to talk to me here?”

Ryan thought for a moment. “Let’s talk outside. Come with me.”

He motioned for me to follow.

I watched Ryan’s brows tighten, then I stepped after him.

Once we got to the underground parking garage and got into the car, Ryan handed me an envelope.

I squeezed it. It was about ten thousand dollars.

“What’s this supposed to mean?”

“Ethan, take the money, keep doing your job properly, and don’t make a scene about this.”

“Keep doing my job properly? You screwed my wife and still want me to keep working like nothing happened!”

I grabbed his collar. “Tell me clearly—when did this start?”

Ryan’s face turned dark. “I don’t need to go into the details. Besides this, there’s also a bank card. Three million total. A million a year, and you’re not exactly losing out.”

“I’m giving you three days, Ethan. That’s all I’m offering. Delay a day, and it goes down by a million!”

I was furious and about to say more, but he pressed me down. “Think carefully before you speak to me.”

“After all, I’m the one calling the shots in this company now. If you don’t agree, fine. If this gets out later, crushing you will be no trouble at all!”

He was threatening me!

I snorted coldly and slapped him hard!

Then I dragged him right out and started beating him!

Ryan was seven or eight years older than me and half a head taller, but he was all show and no substance.

He was no match for me at all!

Soon I had him pinned against the hood of the car.

He roared in rage, “Ethan, you damn well dare to hit me? I’ll kill you!”

I drove my knee up, and his face went instantly pale from the pain.

I grabbed his throat and roared, “Ryan, you damn well dared to touch my wife!”

The next second, I was flipped over by a huge force, and security arrived, pressing me down onto the ground.

Ryan got back up when he had the chance, furious and panicked. “Call the police! Call them now!”

“Don’t call the police!”

It was Claire.

She came over from the emergency exit.

Only then did I realize she’d been there the whole time!

“Let him go. I need to talk to him.”

Ryan waved a hand and got back into the car.

The security guards let me go, but they stood not far away, ready to rush in at any moment.

My eyes were red as I looked at her. “You told me you were forced into this. As long as you say the word, I’ll get justice for you!”

Claire was impatient. “Stop being stupid. Ethan, let’s just split up peacefully!”

I looked at her, and suddenly a nameless rage surged up in me. “Claire, we’ve only been married for four years! You cheated for three of them!”

“You think you deserve me!”

Claire was perfectly calm, though. “Should I say you’re stupid, or naive? When has the company ever assigned overseas business to a newbie like me?”

The company had a rule that overseas assignments were only for men.

When Claire was chosen back then, I really had been shocked.

But Claire said she was capable enough.

Even if it went against the rule, they’d make an exception for her.

Now she was actually using that to mock my innocence.

She glanced at her phone, and the screen showed a photo of their family of three.

How ironic!

“Ethan, you can’t give me what I want. Let’s get divorced!”

That is the end of the free excerpt.
