True Health Report

My Wife Went on a Three-Year Business Trip and Came Home With a Child

Chapter 2

3,830 words

He looked at me with bad intentions.

I knew he’d long been unhappy being in my team, and every day he did nothing but slack off.

But he was good at kissing up, and when Team Two wanted him, I had planned to transfer him over by the end of the month.

Now that I thought about it, I didn’t need him anymore.

He should leave as soon as possible.

But before he left, I was going to give him a lesson.

I smiled and looked at the man who’d spoken. “You’re a grown man, but you’re this nosy. You really do have the potential to be a busybody.”

“Tell you what, I actually do have a shortcut. Want to take it?”

I hooked a finger at him, and he leaned closer.

I held back my anger and said in a low voice by his ear, “You can also take off your own pants and sell yourself.”

“What did you say?”

I spread my hands. “Didn’t you ask me to teach you my experience? Why can’t you take a compliment?”

“Ethan, you’re really getting bold now. You’ve been eating off your wife and still acting righteous. Sure, the kid isn’t yours, but the wife is still yours! Once Ryan gets sent to headquarters, you can have your wife give birth to another one. You won’t lose out!”

The people around burst into laughter, and I couldn’t take it anymore.

I rushed over and punched him, then pinned him to the floor and beat him!

That skinny frame of his was no match for my fists.

He kept begging and screaming, and at first the coworkers around us were still watching the joke.

But later, when they saw I was really going after him like I meant to kill him, they all rushed in and pulled us apart.

I shook my fist. “So who exactly is eating soft food? You little loser!”

“Ethan, I’m calling the cops!”

“Go ahead!”

At that moment, Ryan arrived. “What the hell is going on? What cops?”

“Mr. Grant, Ethan hit me. Look at what he did to me!”

Ryan stared at me. “Ethan, what is wrong with you? This is the company, not a marketplace!”

“You assaulted a coworker. Your performance this month is getting docked!”

At that, Ben sneered, “Ethan, I won’t make a bigger issue out of this. Pay me fifty grand and we’re done.”

“Fine, then let’s call the police. You’ve got a filthy mouth, and I recorded everything just now. If I put this out there later, nobody gets to come out clean!”

Ben immediately looked like he was about to explode, but Ryan stopped him. “That’s enough! Everyone, disperse. Adults need to take responsibility for their own actions. Ben, come with me!”

Ben followed him off, furious, and I coldly glanced around before saying, “If anyone dares to keep running their mouth behind my back, this is what happens!”

“Ethan, aren’t you afraid of getting fired?”

“Yeah, why are you being so arrogant?”

I didn’t care. “What’s there to be afraid of? Worst case, I just find another job. I’m not scared. Are you? Can you guarantee you’ll find work in this kind of market?”

At once, they all shut up.

I wasn’t bragging. I had the skills to back it up.

Honestly, if Claire hadn’t insisted on coming to this company, I would never have come here.

For five years, my performance in the company had been obvious to everyone, and Claire knew exactly how she’d gotten her position as deputy manager.

But after a while, she really seemed to think it was all thanks to her own ability.

No rush. I wanted to see exactly what they were thinking.

By the time Ben came out, half an hour had passed.

The HR manager was right beside him, watching him pack up and leave, and that surprised me a little.

“Everyone listen up. From now on, anyone who insults people or starts trouble in the company without reason will be fired immediately!”

“Ben is the example!”

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone looked at me, and my heart sank.

They had done that on purpose!

When Ben passed me, he snorted coldly. “Ethan, you damn sellout. Trading your wife for glory—I look down on you!”
