Chapter 6

"You're here, have a seat." Manager Ethan still had that smiling expression, inviting me to sit on the big sofa nearby.

As I was considering whether to fall to my knees and immediately apologize for gossiping about a colleague at lunch, ruining the company atmosphere...

Manager Ethan handed me a document, "Take a look at this project. Can you handle it?"

As long as he wasn't pursuing the matter, I could climb mountains of blades or dive into seas of fire. Anything was fine.

I immediately relaxed, quickly skimmed the project, and confidently assured him, "No problem, you can count on me."

Manager Ethan waved his hand, telling me to go back and work on the plan, "Can you give me a proposal by Friday?"

I nodded vigorously like a pecking chicken.

As I nodded, I walked backwards and knocked over a vase on the sofa.

"Crash!" The crisp sound of breaking porcelain.

I didn't dare turn around, afraid this was all just my imagination.

"Hehe." I looked at Manager Ethan sheepishly, wishing the office floor would open up and swallow me.

Gossiping about a colleague at lunch, then breaking a vase in the office in the afternoon. I must have forgotten to check my horoscope before leaving home today.

Such bad luck!

"Are you okay?" Manager Ethan rushed over, looking very concerned.

"The vase seems to have a bit of a problem. I'm sorry, Manager Ethan, I'll compensate for it at the original price." I quickly bowed, hoping Manager Ethan would forgive me. I didn't want to be the first target of his new leadership.

A manager who just started on his first day surely couldn't be asking if I was okay.

"I'm asking if you're alright. The vase breaking is just a small matter, as long as you're not hurt." Manager Ethan looked me up and down.

Only after seeing I was really okay did his tense expression fade.

"As for the vase, let's just consider it breaking for good luck. No need for compensation."

"Then I'll get back to work." I slipped out, leaving those words behind.
