True Health Report

Reborn: Watching My Wife Save Her Soulmate

Chapter 3

3,528 words

And my current situation was perfectly clear.

A bouquet, a confession, plus a car accident.

Serena’s eyes were filled with disgust when she looked at me; she looked innocent and young.

This couldn’t be the Serena I’d spent seven years with, who, after years in the entertainment industry, had long learned how to mask her emotions and wouldn't be so transparently expressive.

That left only one possibility.

I had been reborn. And the person in front of me was Serena, seven years ago.

I immediately turned around decisively, wanting to be eight hundred miles away from that psycho, but she suddenly called out to stop me.

"Liam Davies, what are you doing?! Can’t you see Julian is hurt? Aren’t you going to help?"

I glanced over. He was indeed badly injured.

Although Julian hadn't been dragged under the car like in my previous life, he hadn't completely escaped either.

His leg collapsed limply, like two undercooked noodles, blood soaking through his pants.

Oh.

Looks like he'll be crippled.

I felt a little gleeful.

Help, with my own hands? Absolutely not.

Out of basic human decency, I dialed 911.

"911 is coming right away. Before I leave, there’s something I want to tell you."

The girl looked at me, her expression even more high-and-mighty. She seemed afraid I would come up and pull her away, instinctively clutching the person in her arms even tighter. "If it's a confession, there's no need. I…"

I smiled, cutting her off. "It's not a confession. It's just a blessing."

The siren of the ambulance wailed. I met the girl’s stunned gaze and offered a smile. "Serena, I hope you and Julian find happiness."

Preferably, never separate.

Serena's face darkened.

Before Serena could say anything, I turned and walked away.

I needed to go home and check what exact point in time I was at now and what I could do.

Now, I was sitting in a classroom again.

It felt like another lifetime.

I listened to the hypnotic drone of the trigonometry lesson. Everyone around me was asleep, but my eyes were wide awake.

"Liam Davies, you're doing great today! So energetic. Everyone should learn from him!"

The teacher rarely praised me.

But there were no sounds of appreciation from below. I could still hear the deliberately amplified sneers from the two boys next to me.

"Learn what? How to be a simp chasing a goddess, or how to stay at the bottom of the class?"

"Who doesn't know what he's like? Just because he has a few dirty bucks, why's he acting so arrogant? Maybe when Serena gets back, he'll be sticking to her like glue again!"

I didn't say anything, just smiled.

They weren't wrong.

I did have a few dirty bucks, and I consistently held the last-place spot in class.

But those weren't my weaknesses.

The stupidest thing I’d ever done in this class was falling for Serena.

Now she was stuck with the hospital drama and couldn’t come back.

I looked down at my phone.

The media swarmed her like bloodsucking locusts.

Logically, she wouldn't be able to get away anytime soon.

I was enjoying my peace.

Unfortunately, I soon realized that those good days were coming to an end.

While class was in session, someone knocked on the classroom door. I looked up and met the gaze of the person on the podium.

Her eyes still held that familiar, high-and-mighty look.

Tsk.

Serena got free so quickly and came back to class.

How annoying.

I thought she would at least be a little wary of me.

But to my surprise, Serena pointed directly at me from the stage. "I want to sit next to Liam Davies."

My smile froze. I just stared, dumbfounded.

That is the end of the free excerpt.
