He Sent Me to a Hotel Room. It Ruined His Life

Chapter 2

3,537 words

The names on the test were Logan Sterling and Arthur Reeves.

Arthur Reeves, if I remembered right, was the old butler at Silas's estate.

Silas lost both his parents when he was little. His aunt raised him.

Because he missed them, he never let go of anyone who'd worked for his parents. The old butler, even the nanny. He kept every single one.

Did Logan actually think Arthur Reeves owned Apex Industries?

Since I hadn't walked into the trap they'd set, since I hadn't been assaulted by those thugs and left broken, everything after that had gone off the rails.

And the people commenting on that thread didn't seem to know the actual relationships between any of us.

Still, I had to thank whoever posted it. If it weren't for that thread, I'd never have known Logan was a piece of shit.

When I didn't say anything, Chloe got even more pleased with herself. She checked her phone and grinned. "The livestream just hit a hundred thousand viewers, babe! We're going viral!"

"Everyone's saying you're a genius for exposing a gold digger!"

"The comments are saying that many wrappers means at least five guys!"

"Ew, Logan, is it just me or does the air in here suddenly smell rotten?"

I glanced at the phone in Chloe's hand.

The comments section was filthy.

I refreshed the Reddit thread on my phone. More comments rolling in.

*that many wrappers??? girl was BUSY*

*wait so she cheated on him with some other guy?*

*lol she belongs to the streets*

*honestly both of them are trash for this*

Both of them?

I was trash for protecting myself?

Chloe was the one who introduced me to Logan in the first place.

I met Chloe during my internship at my dad's company. I knew her family didn't have much, so I looked out for her.

We got close over time.

When she found out I was single, she brought Logan to meet me without a second thought.

After a few dinners, he started pursuing me and I thought he was fun, so I said yes.

And now somehow in their minds I was the villain?

Were these people even paying attention to the same reality I was living in?

I snapped back to the moment and looked at Logan with a cold smile. "A few condom wrappers and you're already losing it?"

"Not my fault you can't keep up."

"Logan, since you were willing to set me up for Chloe's sake, we're done."

"We're breaking up."

Logan didn't expect me to be the one saying it. His face flushed red in an instant. "Elena! Have you lost your mind?!"

Chloe threw herself into his arms. "See, babe? She's basically admitting it!"

"This is all my fault. I never should have introduced you two."

Logan didn't push her away. He patted her on the back to comfort her. "She's the dirty one. That has nothing to do with you."

He turned to look at me, his eyes full of disgust. "Chloe's right. Thank god she doesn't know I'm the Apex heir, or she'd have wormed her way into the family and I'd be the one humiliated!"

"You want to break up? Fine! Once my dad takes me back, she'll be crawling on her knees begging me to take her back!"

So it was true. When you're stunned beyond words, you really do just laugh.

I smiled, stood up and rolled my wrist, and slapped Logan across the face.

The crack echoed through the room.

He stood there in total shock, holding his cheek and staring at me. "You! You're the one who cheated! And you have the nerve to hit me?!"

I smiled. "I hit you because I want to. Do I need to book an appointment?"

Then I threw the paternity test back at him. "Logan, the owner of Apex Industries is a Thorne, not a Reeves."
