Chapter 3

With everyone seated, Jack called the waiter to start serving dishes.

As various exquisite dishes were brought to the table, Mia and Quinn's exclamations of surprise greatly satisfied Wendy's vanity.

Perhaps because I didn't show the reaction she wanted, Wendy suddenly said to me: "This is Almas caviar, flown in from the Alps. Country folks probably never get a chance to taste this in their lifetime. Try some."

It's from Dubai, sis. The Alps only have glaciers now!

I really wanted to retort, but seeing the man opposite carefully glancing at me and tugging at Wendy's clothes, I raised the corner of my mouth slightly. Never mind, it's true this country bumpkin hasn't had it in a while.

The rest of the meal continued in this vein, with Wendy repeatedly emphasizing how I, a farmer's kid, had never eaten or seen these things before. Her boyfriend looked like he wanted to say something but kept stopping her.

"Claire, I'm sorry." As soon as I came out of the restroom, I heard the man apologize.

"Jack," I paused, but felt I had to say something, "She's not right for you."

The man rubbed his face with his hand: "I know, but I really can't help it. I like her so much."

Seeing the man's resolute expression, I finally left in silence.

Love can make guys lose themselves too.

"Thank you for not exposing me," I heard a dejected male voice behind me before I walked far.

Jack became an orphan in a major earthquake. Later, by chance, Mrs. Wang sponsored all his expenses. But according to Mrs. Wang, he refused her help since his sophomore year of high school and has been working part-time jobs to pay for everything himself.

The year he got into college, Mrs. Wang once brought me to celebrate with him. Mrs. Wang always praised him highly. I just didn't expect to meet again in this way.

That night, a discordant dinner ended harmoniously.

That evening, I secretly called my brother, because knowing Jack's personality, he would never ask my brother for a free meal.

Although I really dislike the pretentious Wendy, for Jack's sake, I decided to try not to provoke her in the future.

The day after the dinner, two photos and a sensational headline pushed me to the top of the hot topics on the school forum.

"Shocking! Country girl schemes to seduce someone else's rich boyfriend!"
