My Surgeon Boyfriend Skipped My Mom's Surgery for the World Cup

My surgeon boyfriend booked two World Cup tickets the week of my mom's transplant. The other one was my best friend's. For nine years I made myself small for him. I learned a sport I hated. I hid my own mother in a shared ward so no one would know we were dating. Then I overheard him laugh, "Her mom waited three years. I waited four." He thinks he's the only surgeon who can save her. Well, he's about to learn how wrong he is.
