Loved You Best When You Kept Omertà

Elena, the overlooked eldest daughter, discovers that her childhood friend Marco and stepsister Sofia have secretly changed their assignment preferences, leaving her to go to Chicago alone while they stay together in Manhattan. Hurt by years of favoritism toward Sofia, Elena chooses early entry into a classified overseas training program, cutting all contact with her family. Three years later, she returns briefly for her mother's anniversary, where her father finally admits his mistakes and Marco apologizes. However, Elena has moved on—she chooses to continue her independent path, no longer defined by those who once forgot her.
