The story so far
I cooked him a full Christmas dinner and drove six hours to surprise him. He walked through the door with another woman. For five years, I bent myself around Damien Voss — his schedule, his tastes, his silence. I thought that was love. Turns out it was just habit. He remembered everything about his assistant: her favorite foods, her birthday, the way she liked her passenger seat decorated. He remembered nothing about me. When I finally walked away, he came looking. But some doors don't stay open twice — especially when you're the one who burned them down.
